“The short time required to get excellent quality engineering drawings into the manufacturing cycle is incredible. We have found that after just a short time with the software even new CAD users can contribute in a productive manner. The freeform methods of modeling allow the non-technical people involved with the workflow to see the conceptual ideas and contribute their own ideas without being intimidated by the traditional constraints of high-end CAD software. Of course, the real power lurks just below the surface. The more experienced and advanced users have the ability to add a high degree of intelligence to models and assemblies very easily, even after the assemblies are put together.”
Rick Dorrington, CAD/CAM Manager.
“IronCAD has made the design process much more efficient and effective allowing our designers more flexibility and freedom in their work than ever before. We could never be this efficient in Pro/E or other constraint based systems.”
Baltic Yachts was founded in 1973 on a radical philosophy… to create boats that incorporated the very latest thinking in yacht design and new technology. In short, they design and build boats that are faster, stronger and lighter. They utilize high-tech materials and are constantly pioneering new construction techniques. Combining the latest carbon fibre engineering with top build quality from their skilled Finnish workforce, Baltic have multiple prize winning yachts designed and built with a standard second to none.
IronCAD provides Baltic with a flexible yet precise design tool that allows them to design the way they want, and continue to innovate in their field.
“What I really appreciate about IronCAD is that it works so freely and easily, it’s a really big difference in approach, more logically laid out. The ability to have as many parts in a single file makes working and designing much easier, especially given the complexity of the machines we design. If I later choose to have a part saved out to a separate file, I have that option, but it’s my choice. Having handles on the features makes it really easy to size components, SmartSnap makes accurate sizing relative to other parts in the design as simple as holding down one key on the keyboard and dragging…”
"The difficulty I see with explaining the benefits of IronCAD over SolidWorks for experienced users is that they don't become apparent until you have used it for a while. When you are designing and not just drawing you do things differently, most of the comparisons are showing how you would draw a known item rather than designing it. IronCAD can certainly draw known items very quickly, usually more quickly than SolidWorks, but I don't really see this as its strength. It comes into its own when changing what you have drawn and not having the model fall apart and being easily able to test ideas out. This comes from the convenience of the Triball, the simple nature of the Intellishapes and the lack of need to use constraints."
Currawong Engineering Pty Ltd is a world leader in the field of engine powertrain systems for unmanned aerial vehicles, in both military and commercial applications. Currawong’s first engine offering was the Corvid-29 engine powertrain system including custom induction system, fuel injection system, low noise exhaust and power supply. Currawong also offers specialist machining services and engineering design consulting services to local and international customers.
Currawong was formed in 2005 by Gavin Brett, who continues as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. After completing a mechanical engineering degree with Honours, Gavin worked at General Motors for six years in Melbourne (Australia) and specialised in engine calibration and testing for the V8 Commodore. He then worked for five years at Aerosonde Ltd initially in the role of engineer and was soon promoted to Chief Engineer. He developed an electronic fuel injection system for the Aerosonde aircraft, which is still in use today.

"We appreciate that it is easy to make changes with IronCAD. It's also easy to see how parts fit into different projects. The dynamic program structure is a big advantage."
“We have replaced both AutoCAD and SolidWorks with IronCAD. Many different fixtures and tools have been designed at Hexagon. When it comes to 3D-design, we do see a big advantage by using IronCAD. Our experience has been that we design faster and easier compared to our earlier solution because we don’t need to struggle with parametric relations and constraints. With IronCAD, we can design a whole project in a single file and we also get great usage with the catalogs by dragging and dropping parts and assemblies into new designs whenever needed.”
Patrik Kärrvall, R&D Manager.
“We have the great benefit of IronCAD in production at Husqvarna and are quite satisfied with the functionality, training, and support,”
Åke Lindholm, IT Coordinator NORDIC, Husqvarna Group.
The Husqvarna Group is a Swedish manufacturer of outdoor power products including chainsaws, trimmers, brushcutters, cultivators, garden tractors, mowers, and sewing machines. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, the Group also produces consumer watering products, cutting equipment and diamond tools for the construction and stone industries.
“We switched from one of the most common parametric mainstream 3D CAD programs to IronCAD. We have not regretted this for a second. The change has saved both time and money – clearly IronCAD has increased our profitability.”
“There are many features of IronCAD that have made our company much more productive in design/drawing/production processes. These include and are not limited to the Triball way of manipulation, modelling with preset shapes and configurations, virtually no sketching required, ease of producing 3D workshop drawings from the Scene in multiples, exporting faces to DXF etc.”
Metwest is an engineering business that predominately works in infrastructure. They provide thousands of engineered products for the rail industry, which often have to be manufactured and installed in very short time frames. IronCAD’s dramatically faster design times help them deliver to these time frames.
Metwest Engineering has been providing engineering services in rail systems around Australia for nearly three decades.
"We use IronCAD’s dynamic modeling in machine design and then use IronCAD’s parametric technology for our dimension variant packaging. We have not seen any other program that lets us work this way."
Nefab provides custom packaging solutions for companies in the telecom, energy, vehicle, healthcare, and aerospace industries that ship oversized products. They deliver complete packaging services that are optimized to reduce both total cost and environmental impact of supply chains.
NEFAB has over 2400 employees and had a 2016 turnover of $3.3 billion SEK.
"We’re an unusual company, because we’re always focused on getting the best solution, the fastest one, and the most clear one to everybody. Our building here is also called the solution factory, because we want to encourage people, that they come up with new ideas every day. Our daily reminder is the way down into the workshop [a slide]. Because of this idea of thinking and this mindset, we are way more productive than our competitors are. We use about 20 seats of IronCAD. You can design in 3D way way faster than normal programs, and it’s so easy that even a 15 year old boy learns it within 2 days… We are very pleased we chose IronCAD back in 2009."
Johannes Schreiber, Engineering Manager.
